I got my younger brother, Erik to take a look at it. I don't know, i became desperate and soon regret hit. His words for my drawing is "it sucks." No detail, even when asked, his only opinion was really"it sucks." Way to go younger brother, I'll just continue doing what i was doing. This was probably one of the most infuriating projects I've done through the end. As of now, I'm not currently happy or proud of what I've done. Yet, even though it turned out worse than expected I can't help but feel like I need to finish it. I absolutely dislike the eyes as they look like weird aliens. The 2nd girl from the right has a head that has shrunk into wombo, the girl clinging to the guy has a neck of a giraffe and the girl next to her to the left has eyes bigger than egg yolks, and I think the girl at the far left turned out okay except for the weird legs. The most successful I feel, turned out to be the male. I really don't practice drawing, which seeing this, it really shows. That being said, I think the peice turned out okay. I really like the bodies and that was my main struggle. That and hands. Usually when I got stuck, I looked at drawing guides on tumblr.I got so frustrated with eyes that I decided to go with a more cartoony look. Which I regret not looking at them inked. I don't think cartoony is bad, infact the peice already had a cartoony feel to it because of its 2D style. I've always been fond of cartoons and not only that but my favorite type of art is SuperFlat, which I believe my influences shine, especially in this peice. If I could start again, I might just take advantage the cartoony look and exaggerate the background to something more trippy. Also, I would change the eyes. Don't know what to but I know it'd be something more detailed and better looking than the ones on them currently. In conclusion, I've grown a lot as an artist, I've learned how to draw a female without their garments, I improved in the art of drawing a hand, and I have taken enough risks to see what works and what doesn't because to me, there are a number of things that don't work.
Since I've started, I had difficulty with sizing and finding a center or focus point to have all the objects align to. So I relied on the angles I could make out with my pencil and ruler. The picture taken was an early quick sketch of the lines and yeah it's off. I had to get used to repositioning the paper all the time on my lap since the clips get in the way. The way it is now, it is a lot more proportional as I came in and reworked with things. Thus far I can say the best thing about it is the porportions and I want to shift focus to contour as I progress. It's a bit different than atocipated but it's not too off the path I wanted to take that I can't fix it or focus it a bit more
A quick crappy shot of my room devoid of mess. I'm using a corner of a room as a center to make a more dynamic. The angles spread out to present the rest of the room. The morning light will seep into the room through the curtains as the whole room is in the dark. Laundry will be intitionally laid out on the floor for a more interesting contours and to symbolize my lifestyle. Last but not least, my younger brother being lazy while playing videos to show our easy going lazy life's and create of air of fimilarity for those with similar lifestyles. I'm mainly relaying on contour and shading to make this interesting to look at instead of just another drawing of a teenange boys room. The biggest risk for me is probably the shading since I'm a total noob at it.
The last project will be made in the comfort of my home. I want to sketch out a corner of my room with the window, T.V, closet, and my brother being lazy in view. My room is a reflection of dorm life's for its uncomfortable sofa bed, pile of laundry all over and dimly lit. I feel like mph room will be interesting enough to look at with light casting into parts of the room. It'll be reflection of my lifestyle and hopefully it's pulled off stylishly. The inspiration came from what my art teacher told me to do one day for figure sketching and to " sketch out your brother playing DS." So I got the idea of capturing the place where I spent my entire teenage years in. It's the ultimate idea for peice about me!
